Literature Text
One day I woke up
With good news to start.
I was simply told
That you’d be here by fall.
Joyous and cheerful,
I was glad to see you.
Nervous and fearful,
Wondering if it’d still be you.
I told my friend
And told him to wait
For good news to come
Or my tears to flood.
Then late one day,
I opened the door.
You still were the same
Of our days of old.
You came inside,
And I looked into your eyes;
I saw a colour flow
And I think I saw your soul.
Quiet and tense,
Together we dined,
Drifting looks away
As we met eyes.
Then the ice broke
And we followed the flow
Of the music in the air,
Which was very rare.
You fingers moved as light
As a feather caught in flight.
And your voice sounded as bright
As golden blocks in a mine.
Then we said goodbye,
Seeing each other for the first time.
I couldn’t sleep that night,
With your laughter echoed in my mind.
